About.
Throughout my life,
I have been able to follow my passions because I want to know things. I have found many generous mentors and happy accidents on my way to becoming a storyteller and artist,
I have had many opportunities to explore multiple facets of the news media industry as a participant, writer, and editor, — logging time at regional newspapers across the western U.S. as a journalist with an emphasis on newsroom technologies and graphic arts while teaching newsroom technology to other journalists. I've gained a bird's eye view through years of documenting and participating in an evolving industry.. Today I edit a blog for C-level executives focusing on the relationship between international news media publishers and the giant digital platforms that play a role in all of our lives. Researching people on the cutting edge is my favorite part.
I am a teaching artist.. In this life, I have learned another way of seeing the world and experienced the generous and nonjudgmental companionship of the studio. Perhaps my happiest accident has been finding a way to extend my graphic arts experience to fine art collage using mixed media techniques. I began at a community arts center in 2018 because I was trying to understand fine art collage, and, unexpectedly, have not been able to put down my glue brush since.
I am currently working on a series called Submerged, a kind of fantasy interpretation of Dale Chihuly's beautiful work in glass and my memories of a LaJolla-based life that lets me explore ways to bring light to life through collage using combinations of transparency, translucency, and opacity.
